Joy earned her bachelor’s degree of science in nursing from the University of Kansas. She earned her master’s degree of science from the University of Colorado, graduating with honors and serving as commencement speaker. She is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Prior to joining RMPE in 2023, Joy had been working in pediatrics for 29 years.

She is a long-standing member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She has published articles in Pediatric Journal of Health and authored two chapters in general pediatrics textbooks for pediatric nurse practitioners. Over the years, she has mentored pediatric nurse practitioner students from multiple universities.

Joy has a son and a daughter. She enjoys skiing and hiking with her children, singing in choir, and cheering on Kansas basketball.
